Descriptions of Classes We Typically Offer
Wondering if we teach a certain type of class? Below are short descriptions of the types of classes we teach most frequently, at least a few times per year. Not all of these classes are necessarily being taught at any given point in time. You can check our Upcoming Classes page to see what's open for registration right now.
In general, classes meet once per week for 6 weeks. Each session is 2 hours long. The usual price is $160 per 6-week session. Prices include clay and a half-shelf of firing credit (that's usually enough).

Wheel-Throwing for Beginners
Some folks who are starting out want to learn alongside others who are too. This class is meant for those who have no idea what they're doing, or who have not touched a wheel in a very long time.

More Advanced Wheel-Throwing Classes
Do you feel pretty confident with the basics of wheel-throwing? Want to learn some advanced skills? Jake would love to show you. We teach advanced classes several times per year.

Handbuilding
Not all pottery is made on a wheel! Handbuilding includes skills like building with coils, molds, slabs, an extruder, and much more. There is a huge variety of work that can be made with these methods.

Glaze and Surfaces Class
Want to know more about how glazes work and what you can do with things like stains, wax, slips, and more? This is a different kind of class-- the kind where you bring a notebook and pencil. We'll test glazes, try things out, and talk about test-firing results.

Classes for Kids
We will offer classes for kids if you have a group of at least 4 all ready to go. Kids younger than about 8 might not have the arm strength needed for wheel-throwing, but kids as young as about 4 will enjoy hand-building. Let us know if you're interested in setting up a kids' class. The cost is generally $25 per student per class, with a minimum size of 4 students.

One-Day or Weekend Workshops
Several times per year we'll offer short workshops. These range from project-specific workshops (eg, Make a Vase!) that are 2-3 hours long to weekend-long workshops for experienced potters looking to hone their craft.
