About Studio Membership
Membership is by application, to ensure that members are skilled enough to be able to work independently in a ceramic studio. Members have open access to the studio, and are able to work more or less when they please.
We generally require that members take a class with us before starting membership. Our members have a lot of independence in the studio, and this helps to ensure an understanding of how the place runs. Even if you've got some experience, it's just our strong preference that you kind of get an idea of how the place runs before becoming a member. Let us know if you have questions about this.
What does it cost?
Membership is $60/month

Can non-members buy clay or fire in our kilns?
We're not really staffed or set up to do a lot of this kind of business, but we realize that sometimes working potters or hobbyists need somewhere to fire once or twice or get a little bit of clay. We encourage membership for those who require regular access. Otherwise, here are the prices for non-members:

Please note that our standard membership is not intended for full-time or production potters. If this describes you, and you're in need of a place to do your work, please get in touch with us so we can discuss possible arrangements.

We encourage membership for those who require regular access. Otherwise, here are the prices for non-members:
- Non-members should email us to purchase clay. Clay pricing for non-members starts at about $45 per 50 lb box (subject to change based on what we have available and current supplier pricing). We stock several types of cone 6 clay. Contact us in advance for large orders or specific types of clay. We also suggest Clayworks Supplies in Richmond for supplies.
- Non-members can fire in our kilns with prior approval. They cannot use our glazes and will be responsible for ensuring that the glazes used are appropriate for cone 6 firing. We have electric kilns which we fire to cone 6. Inquire for details about pricing, which amounts to a flat fee per firing of $15 plus firing charges of 50% more than what we charge our members. Firing for non-members will require prior arrangement and pre-payment, so please get in touch before dropping by.
